Safe In The Sun

Protective clothing engineered for skin well being

Canadian company SunSoul has invented a revolutionary recyclable nylon fabric that delivers beneficial wavelengths (or colours) of sunlight to human skin while reducing harmful UV radiation.

The therapeutic material, which comes in hats and shirts, improves the appearance of aging, sun-damaged or blemished skin while protecting you from the sun's harmful rays. All you have to do is wear it out in the sun for a few hours a week.

The company has developed two materials, Blumöd and Yelomöd. The Blumöd shirt’s dense polymer matrix blocks harmful UV rays while fluorescent compounds in the material convert UV into beneficial blue light, triggering a process called Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT). During this process, blue light reacts with oxygen and tiny molecules produced by skin bacteria, called porphyrins, suppressing bacterial growth.

Yelomöd uses fluorescent light to deliver the benefits of the sun’s healthy yellow rays to skin while protecting from UV. Yellow light is well known to promote skin rejuvenation by smoothing skin, improving skin tone and reducing wrinkles or skin discolouration due to aging or sun damage.
