Know the risks of aesthetic procedures
Warns Datuk Seri Sharizat Abdul Jalil
According to a recent article published in The Star, Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Sharizat Abdul Jalil, warned that while aesthetic enhancement remains a personal choice of the individual, women have to be careful, take all necessary precautions and be aware of the risks involved.
“I am going to call on all women, that should you feel the need to go for aesthetic enhancement, please go to qualified doctors. How can you surrender yourselves to people that you do not know?” she told the paper.
Sharizat was commenting on Datin Fatimah Wan Chik, the 44-year-old wife of Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman, who is hooked on a life support machine following a reportedly botched cosmetic surgery. She added that aesthetic surgeons should be accredited professionals and they must ensure their patients are fit and healthy enough to undergo the procedures.
