Forehead Scar

My two-year-old son recently suffered a cut (about two inches long) on the forehead. The stitches were removed by the plastic surgeon, but there is a scar left behind. Is this scar going to be there forever? What can I do to get rid of it or at least reduce the scar somewhat?
T.S.

Dear T.S.,
For surgical scars, the best treatment is with the fractional CO2 resurfacing laser. This treatment is suitable for a child as it is only momentarily uncomfortable, and the treatment takes about two seconds to perform. At least four treatments, two to four weekly, are recommended.
