Eye surgery gone bad

I recently had double eyelid surgery – which turned out wrong! I specifically asked for prominent double eyelids, but I ended up with one eyelid thicker than the other, and one eye without a double eyelid. I'm very disappointed and am considering revision

double eyelid surgery. Should the doctor be held responsible in some way? Also, what will the revision involve?
P.L.

Dear P.L.,
It sounds like some stitches may have come loose, and as a result, you have lost the fold on one side. This can happen with any surgeon, even those who are very experienced. However, if the results for both eyes have come out poorly, you can always go back to your surgeon for a correction.

BeforeBeforeAfterAfterThe most important thing to ascertain is that the surgeon is a properly trained board certified plastic surgeon. If not, the chances of him or her fixing the problem may be slim, seeing as the primary surgery went wrong in the first place.

Plastic surgeons are trained to deal with these types of post-operation problems. Revision would involve re-doing the whole procedure, which will not be easy, as there are existing scars in your eyelids from the first procedure.
