Aging signs

I'm in my late 30s and have found that lately my skin has become very dry (especially on my hands and legs). I drink a lot of water and eat healthily, but signs of aging and spots (on my arms) are emerging. I take a daily dose of vitamin C (500mg), vitamin E (400 I.U.), and vitamin B complex. Am I taking the right dosage of these vitamins? Is there anything else I should take to promote good skin and delay aging?
J.H.

Dear J.H.,
Your main skin problem is xerosis cutis (dry skin) and solar keratosis (sun spots). For xerosis, a proper skin care regime that includes a good moisturiser, emollient and suitable gentle soap will be very helpful. Perimenopausal (before menopause) and menopausal women can develop xerosis. Perimenopause usually starts for most women in their 40s, but can also begin for some in their 30s.

I think your vitamin dosage is appropriate if your diet is deficient of those nutrients. Generally for skin anti-aging, I would recommend a healthy diet that includes antioxidants, suitable exercise, a suitable skin care regime based on your skin type, and of course, sun protection. This can be supplemented with suitable aesthetic treatments such as chemical peels, botulinum toxin injections, and rejuvenation lasers.
